D5 GIRLS Sweeps: CA D5#1 Branson jr Julia Maxwell, the 2011 D5 state champ and 18th at FL West last year, ran a scorching 16:52 to win by 88 seconds over #3 Mammoth CA soph Jody Meadsand a field of more than 100. Maxwell’s time was the best overall Friday. Her D5#1 team, however, was 6th with 178 as #3 Thatcher won with 100 (20:11 avg.) ahead of unranked Vistamar.

D4 GIRLS Sweeps: CA D4#1 San Lorenzo Valley jr Anna Maxwell, 24th at Foot Locker Finals last fall and defending D4 champ here, also went sub-17 with a scintillating 16:57. She won by 72 seconds over #5 Crean Lutheran South soph Lauren Maurer. Maxwell’s D4 #1 team scored 92 (19:05 avg.) to top #2 JSerra’s 101 and #4 Mayfield’s 111.

D3 GIRLS Sweeps: CA D3#2 Northwood jr Bethan Knights clocked 17:23 to defeat the 17:47 from #5 Bonita jr Mackenzie Landa. They were the only two under 18. CA D3#3 Bonita rolled to victory with 46 points (18:31 avg.), followed by #4 Northwood’s 98.

D3 BOYS Sweeps: CA D3#1 St. John Bosco sr Myles Smith, a Foot Locker Finalist last fall, ripped a winning 14:56 for the top Friday performance. He moved up from 2nd last year and topped the fast 15:06 and 15:08 marks from unranked Redwood jr Fred Huxham and #2 Indio jr David Luna. D3 #2 Bosco tallied 69 (15:39 avg.) to edge #4 Bria Olinda’s 74.

D4 BOYS Sweeps: CA D4#1 Sir Francis Drake sr John Lawson and unranked teammate Clayton Hutchins went 1-2 in 15:03 and 15:14. D4#1 Fillmore scored 76 (16:18 avg.) to edge #5Salesian’s 80.

D5 BOYS Sweeps: CA D5#2 San Francisco University sr Connor Clark rolled to an easy win in 15:18, prevailing by 32 seconds over unranked Sherman Indian sr Isaiah Thompson. CA D5#2Flintridge Prep dominated with 68 (16:23 avg.), with #7 La Jolla Country Day hitting 104 to win a close battle for second. #1 St. Margaret’s was 5th with 116.
